DND Demystified

New to the world of Dungeons & Dragons or finally curious to learn how this legendary RPG actually works? During the How To Play D&D workshop, the experienced volunteers of D&D Gent will guide you through a clear and accessible introduction to the game. In a structured two-part presentation (in English, with live translation if needed), you’ll learn everything you need to get started: the basic rules, dice mechanics, character roles, storytelling, and how a D&D session unfolds. If there’s interest, they’ll also explain how to take on the role of Dungeon Master yourself. The workshop is completely free and ideal for beginners and curious players alike.

How It Works

The workshop is held in the main tent, using tables arranged in a horseshoe shape so everyone can follow the presentation easily. The session lasts up to two hours and is guided by volunteers from D&D Gent. With space for up to 12 participants at once, there is plenty of room to ask questions and follow the explanation at your own pace. All required materials and visual aids are provided by the organizers.

Story Telling

Do you have a fantastic idea for a Tabletop RPG adventure but don't know how to put it on paper? During the Schrijfgoesting workshop, fantasy author Eva Linden will help you turn your creativity into a compelling quest. In this interactive mini-workshop, you will learn the basics of worldbuilding, plot development, and writing engaging scenarios for your own TTRPG sessions. Whether you are a novice Dungeon Master or an experienced writer looking for fresh inspiration, this workshop will give you the spark you need to bring your own stories to life. The workshop is completely free for all festival visitors.

How It Works

The workshop takes place at a large central table in the main tent, where you will work alongside up to nine other participants. In a one-hour session, you will receive practical tips and exercises to achieve immediate results. Eva Linden provides the necessary guidance and materials, so all you need to bring is your imagination (and perhaps your favorite pen). The small-scale setup ensures a personal atmosphere with plenty of room for questions and interaction.
