Horror night
Experience the night!
Atmospheric theme nights
At Mysticon, it's all about the experience. That’s why we organize unique theme nights where specific board games are played in a perfectly matching atmosphere. On Saturday 1 August, the Horror Night follows. As the sun sets, we bring nerve-wracking games like Nyctophobia, The Night Cage, and Nemesis to life in a dark, atmospheric environment.

Free play & discovery
Beyond our themed events, there is plenty of room to play at your own pace all weekend long. Dive into our extensive game library to discover classics or brand-new titles, or join special sessions like Dungeons & Dragons After Dark and the suspenseful Blood on the Clocktower. Do you have a favorite game at home, or did you just pick up a new gem from one of the vendors at the festival? Feel free to bring it to our gaming tables and share the fun with fellow visitors!
our GAMES

Nyctophobia
Nyctophobia, literally "fear of the dark," is a cooperative maze game that redefines what it means to play a board game. Up to four players form the Hunted team and try to survive a murderous maniac stalking them in a dark forest. The twist? The Hunted players wear blackout glasses and cannot see the board. They must rely entirely on touch and hearing to navigate the maze, find the car, and survive until the police arrive. One player takes on the role of the Hunter—the sighted predator trying to catch their victims before help arrives. This tactile game for 3 to 5 players lasts about 30-45 minutes and offers a unique, intense experience.
About the activity
Do you dare enter the darkness? During "Horror Night" at Mysticon, we create a complete darkroom experience in our tent. With thematic music, tactile props like dry branches, slime, and even a 'Freddy Krueger' glove, the tension becomes tangible. Our volunteer, dressed in Horror Night theme, guides you through the game and plays the role of the Hunter. Maximum 5 players per session—including the Hunter—make this experience intimate and intense. Are you afraid of the dark?
Registration
Sign up on-site using the large form at the tent entrance. Registration for the next session opens as soon as the current session begins. Spots are limited, so be quick!

Nemesis
Nemesis is an intense sci-fi survival horror game for 1-5 players. You awaken from cryosleep as a crew member of the spaceship Nemesis. A critical system failure has left the ship uncontrollable, and you must return to Earth. The problem: a crew member is dead, and strange, alien sounds echo through the corridors. This is a semi-cooperative game where you work together to survive, but everyone also has secret personal objectives. As you explore the ship and try to complete your mission, the intruders evolve and grow stronger. Will you succeed in achieving your goal and leaving the ship alive, or will you fall victim to the monsters — or your own crew?

About the activity
Two overlapping sessions of Nemesis in one tent, each with a maximum of 5 players (minimum 3). An experienced volunteer provides rules explanation, guides setup, and answers questions. The tent is atmospherically decorated with "space horror" elements and thematic music, fully immersing you in the dark atmosphere of the ship.

The night cage
You awaken in complete darkness, your skin cold, your mind blank. You have nothing but your fear, a flickering candle, and one question: how long will your light last? The Night Cage is a fully cooperative, horror-themed tile-placement game for 1-5 players. Together you crawl through an unnatural labyrinth of eternal darkness, equipped with nothing but dim candles. Your candle illuminates only your immediate surroundings, and when you move, tiles that fall into darkness vanish from the game forever. Worse still: horrifying Wax Eaters — monsters that despise light — lurk in the suffocating darkness waiting for their chance to strike. To win, you must collect keys together, find a gate, and escape as a group. But beware: if your light moves away from critical items, they can vanish forever.

About the activity
Two consecutive sessions of The Night Cage in one tent (shared with Sub Terra). Each session plays with a maximum of 5 players (minimum 3). An experienced volunteer provides rules explanation, guides setup, and answers questions. The tent is atmospherically decorated with "underground" horror elements, dimmed lighting, and thematic music. A smoke machine adds extra atmosphere to both play spaces.

Sub Terra
In Sub Terra, you find yourself trapped in a cave that feels almost alive: dark, tight, and always a step closer than you’d like. With every tile you reveal, something new emerges — a collapsing passage, a sudden ravine, or a sound that couldn’t possibly have come from your group.
Torches fade, oxygen thins, and something in the shadows moves along with you, always just out of sight. You feel the panic rising, but the only way is forward: assessing risks together, pulling each other back to safety, and hoping the exit comes into view faster than whatever is crawling behind you.
Sub Terra plays smoothly, but with each turn the air grows heavier, the darkness deeper, and the tension sharper — exactly the kind of survival experience that belongs on Horror Night.
About the activity
During Horror Night at Mysticon, we host consecutive sessions of Sub Terra in a shared tent with The Night Cage, creating a naturally dark, claustrophobic, underground atmosphere. Expect a host who explains the rules, helps you get started, and slowly builds the tension as your group descends deeper into the cave. Each session is played with a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 players, ensuring everyone stays involved and the cooperative survival theme shines through. The focus is on introducing visitors to the game while offering a suspenseful evening activity — not overly horrific, but with just enough creeping dread to get the adrenaline going.
